The Day Care Centre is based on Dudley Road, Smethwick B18 4HE and leases the community hall within the church building of The International Firstborn Church.

 

The Cape Community Care Day Centre is an established charity/day centre of 25 years, located within Sandwell and provides day care/Luncheon twice a week (Tuesday's and Thursday's) for 47 BMe’s Elderly - most frail vulnerable with mental illnesses & isolated in their homes.

 

The Centre’s service includes a healthy nutritious freshly prepared meals which are cooked on the premises and deliver to 8 house bound clients. We also offer a home 'Visiting Service’.

The Centre focuses on the development of individual’s/User by encouraging users to participate within Extend Gentle exercise, Mentally stimulative crafts and quarterly social outings to beautiful gardens and local historic sights etc alongside quizzes, daily topics, domino's, health awareness informative and engagement topics such as Dementia, Diabetes, Welfare rights, Home Aids etc.

 

The Centre depends on the efforts and services of volunteers to continue deliver this service by the sale of our healthy delicious meals, fund raising concepts of table top and cake sales also business donations. We have successfully secured 2 or 3 funding partners to bridge the gap but as you know this pot is slowing dwindling.

We are supported by Sandwell Social Services and Sandwell Community Transport.

 

We have 46 clients that utilise our service which include 8 meals on wheels that we deliver to - 2 days a week. 60% of clients have some form of mental illness such as dementia or physical disability.

The cooks of the centre are in their 70's who are very passionate and still want to contribute which is such an inspiration. The centre, predominantly 95% of users are African Caribbean decent but is open to all cultures.

 

The Centre's Aim and vision to to ensure 'that everyone matters' and 'To make their Golden years enjoyable' and to give the clients fond memories, feel apart of, connected, cared for and make them client's smile during the day - it is a day well spent !!

 

Centre operating times: Tuesday and Thursdays 11am to 3pm
