Support for Young Adults (25 and under)

The journey into adulthood can often have problems, but this can be particularly the case if you have more challenges in your life. To help Birmingham City Council has a dedicated Youth Hub to provide information, advice and support.

Birmingham Youth Hub

The Birmingham Youth Hub is run by a comprehensive advice information and guidance support service for all young people, 16-24 years of age. It is run by our partner St Basils and funded by the Birmingham City Council.

The service offers psychologically informed support – that is support that is shaped by your feelings and past experiences, to make sure that that you feel listened to and understood. This support focuses on youth participation, healthy relationships, positive lifestyles and access to development opportunities.

 

How to Contact the Youth Hub

The Youth Hub is run a appointment service that you can refer yourself to (self-referral) that is based in central Birmingham, but they also run an agile service with across Birmingham.

Additional Support Available

As well as early preventative support the Youth Hub also serves as a single point of access for young people who need a range of other services for young adults, including support for those who have been in care, homelessness and mediation services.

The Youth Hub will talk with about these services if they are right for you. A short summary of these services are below.

This is a community based support from a named support worker for people aged 18 to 24 years of age who have multiple challenges. The service provides tailored support to help the person overcome the personal barriers they face and navigate services. The aim of the service is to help the person achieve a stable life, living independent.

The service can support across health and wellbeing, money issues, education and employment, digital skills, keeping or finding accommodation and social, community and family engagement.

The Youth Hub will refer you to this service if it is right for you.

This is a similar service to the Young Person Lead Worker service above, but for people with more challenging issues. It is a residential based support service and is aimed at people aged 18 to 24 years of age who have may have experienced repeated homelessness, substance mis-use, poor mental health, repeated involvement with the police or courts and exclusion from other services.

The service seeks to improve the young person's wellbeing, encourage positive change and move the person into a stable life where they can live independently.

The Youth Hub will refer you to this service if it is right for you.

This service is an accommodation based service for people aged 18 to 24 who have been repeatedly excluded from other services due to their multiple needs and circumstances. The service provides long-term support from a range of professionals including mental health and substance mis-use specialists.
