Caring for Pets as you age

Many people have pets and these provide a range of benefits such as companionship. As you age you many not be able to care for your pet as they need and need help to keep them healthy and well.

If you do not have friends and family that can help with this, then there are many pet service companies that operate within Birmingham who maybe able to meet your pets needs.

If you are elderly or terminally ill and can no longer look after your pet, you could contact the Cinnamon Trust (opens in new window). They can find both long and short-term foster carers for pets, who will keep their owners informed about their welfare. They also have volunteer dog walkers in most areas who can help if you are unable to exercise your dog. If your pet dies and you want another, the Trust can link you with an animal whose current owner can no longer keep it. The Trust is a charity and welcomes donations from the people it helps.
