Age Concern Birmingham - Friends First

These accessible activities are within the community and are open to both older adults who have long term health conditions or a disability plus those with lower needs to access the grant supported activities at no cost.  Anyone can refer in, including self-referrals.

The connections activity team will deliver, a range of age appropriate, fun interactive activities at either:

  • Our 7-day accessible community day care venues
  • Within the home, on a one to one basis for example a citizen recovering from an illness or injury to maintain their confidence
  • Within community buildings

Experienced staff (inclusive of volunteers) will enhance independence, keep all citizens happy, healthy and valued, while increasing social participation.

Additionally, there will be the offer of advice and information to citizens to support income maximization, referrals for carers to Birmingham Carers Hub for a statutory carers assessment, along with the offer of support for digital inclusion.

We are currently developing the team and the timetable.

Information will be circulated regularly any enquiries to
