U3A Handsworth Wood

U3A indicate that, after the first age of childhood and formal education, comes the second age of work and/or raising a family, and then comes the third age of retirement when people are free to get together over common interests. Like-minded individuals meets at each other's homes, suitable venues and organised events/activities.

A self-help organisation. Group leaders are simply members who have an interest they wish to share with others. Ideas flow, new experiences and knowledge follow. It's also very sociable, usually plenty of tea, coffee and cake. Activities:

Clem Dench Scout Hut: Scrabble (Monday 14:00), Rambling (Tuesday 9:45), Art (Wednesday 10:00), History (fortnightly on a Wednesday 14:00), Tai Chi (Thursday 14:00).

The Oaklands Church Centre: Bridge (Monday 14:00).

Elmwood Church: Monthly U3A meetings, second Tuesday of the month, 10:00 (except August).
