U3A Activities and Opportunities

The U3A (University of the Third Age) offers a vibrant community for retirees to engage in enriching activities and social events. Members gather to explore shared interests in a friendly, welcoming environment, often accompanied by tea, coffee, and cake.

Activities Schedule
  1. Bridge: Mondays, 2:30-5 PM at Oaklands Centre, Winleigh Road, Handsworth Wood.

  2. History: Monthly on Wednesdays, 2-4 PM at Oaklands Centre, Winleigh Road, Handsworth Wood.

  3. Singing: Fortnightly on Wednesdays at 3 PM, Underwood Road.

  4. Outings: Every 4th Tuesday from April-October (except August). The coach departs St. Christopher's near Elmwood Church at 9:15 AM.

  5. Rambling: 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month at various venues.

  6. Scrabble: Every Monday, 2-4 PM at Clem Dench.

  7. Theatre Groups: Contact for more information.

Monthly Meetings and Volunteer Opportunities

Meetings take place at Elmwood Church, Handsworth Wood, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10 AM, unless otherwise stated. Volunteers are always welcome to help at meetings, join committees, or introduce new friends to the group. Your participation is invaluable to the U3A community.

Membership Information
  • Membership Fee: £10.00 annually, payable on January 1st.

  • Associate Members Fee: £6.00 for those belonging to another U3A.

  • Meeting Attendance Fee: £3.00 per member at Elmwood meetings.
