u3a - Handsworth Wood

u3a indicate that, after the first age of childhood and formal education, comes the second age of work and/or raising a family, and then comes the third age of retirement when people are free to get together over common interests. Like-minded individuals meets at each other's homes, suitable venues and organised events/activities.

A self-help organisation. Group leaders are simply members who have an interest they wish to share with others. Ideas flow, new experiences and knowledge follow. It's also very sociable, usually plenty of tea, coffee and cake. 

Activities:

Bridge 
Venue and time - everyday Monday 2:30-5pm at Oaklands, Winleigh Road, Handsworth Wood. 

History  
Ventue and time - Wednesday monthly following Elmwood Meeting at 2-4pm Clem Dench. 

Singing 
Venut and time - usually fortnightly on a Wednesday at 3pm, Underwood Road. 

Outings 
Venue and time - usually 4th Tuesday of the month from April-October, except August. THe coach leaves from St. Christopher;s near Elmwood Church at 9:15am. 

Rambling 
Venue and time - 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Various venues.

Scrabble 
Venue and time - every Monday 2-4pm at Clem Dench.

Meetings are held at Elmwood Church, Hamstead Hill, Handsworth Wood, Birmingham B20 at 10am for the meeting to start at 10:15am on the second Tuesday of the month unless otherwise stated. 

WANTED - volunteers - your u3a needs you. Could you help  out at meetings, join a committee or introduce a friend?

Membership fee - £10.00 per annum, payable Jan 1st. Associate Members fee - i.e. belonging to another U3A £6.00. There is a £3.00 charge for each member attending meetings at Elmwood.
