Cannon Street Soup Kitchen
Cannon Street Soup Kitchen takes place every Saturday from 12pm until 2pm and offers a warm space where individuals can socialise, get something to eat, access toiletries and other essential items.
The Soup Kitchen has been running since 2022. Volunteers arrive from 8:30am onwards.
Participants are offered a cheese roll, fruit, piece of cake; each person receives a pack. Then hot soup, tea, coffee, and cold drinks, are served followed by a hot meal such as chips, beans, and toast.
Volunteers comprise of 4 teams with 8 people in each team – teams rotate each week. All volunteers are vetted and need to be able to handle sensitive situations. If an individual is not fit to attend the Soup Kitchen, a food bag to take away is provided.
Sometimes individuals ask for underwear, toiletries, socks, clothes, hats & gloves and these are provided if in stock. The Soup Kitchen offers a warm space where they can sit, be around others, eat, and have a wash before returning to the streets. The Soup Kitchen also provide a Christmas meal, subject to funding.
