Ward End Residents Group (Glebe Farm & Tile Cross) Strictly Come Ward End Tea Dances

The focus is provision of fun social activities, to decrease social isolation and increase social activity in residents over 50

To also, encourage greater mobility and increase fitness and to improve Mental Health Wellbeing and increase confidence in residents over 50.

 The tea dance by its very nature promote health and fitness

The physical health benefits of dancing include increased muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness, increased aerobic fitness, improved muscle tone and strength and weight management. The addition of afternoon tea promotes  socialising which in turn reduces social isolation and improve mental health and overall brain function.

 

 

 The project will take place on a Wednesday in the early afternoon 1.00 p.m to 3.30 p.m.

 

The programme will be flexible to include afternoon tea, dancing and health information/professional input . 

Week 1 Tea Dance and afternoon tea & footcare & mobility advice

Week 2 Tea Dance and afternoon tea & Active Wellbeing Society Fitness Information

Week 3 Tea Dance and afternoon tea & Stechford Leisure Centre Services

Week 4 Tea Dance and afternoon tera & Saltley Leisure Centre or Birmingham Adult Education Information.
