Early onset dementia support - Younger People with Dementia (YPWD)

A service for people who were diagnosed with a dementia under the age of 65 and who live in the Berkshire area.

Younger People with Dementia CIO was set up in 2012 to fill a gap in provision for those with young onset dementia and their family and carers. We provide free workshops and short term 1:1 support to those with young onset dementia.

Examples of workshops include a choir, cycling, katakanuing, art, walking, furniture restoration and gardening. Our 1:1 support is tailored to the interests of the individual and can for example include shopping, bowling, or swimming.  We also deliver education courses, carer support groups and rarer dementia support sessions.  We work closely with local memory clinics, admiral nurses and dementia care advisors to provide a seamless service.

If you have a diagnosis of young onset dementia (i.e. diagnosed with dementia under the age of 65) and live in Berkshire, then you can access our services. You can refer yourself and contact us directly or you can be referred to us by your GP or your Memory Clinic. We will then meet with you to determine what services are right for you.
