Midland Sailing Club - Sailing for All
Adults with a wide range of physical disabilities, learning disabilities, blind and visually impaired can take part in sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding at Edgbaston Reservoir as part of Midland Sailing Club’s ‘Sail Birmingham’ initiative.
Sessions operate on Thursdays and Fridays, morning and afternoon. No prior experience is required, and participants do not need to be able to swim.
The activities are FREE OF CHARGE through the Prevention & Communities Programme.
All the equipment is provided including buoyancy aids and wetsuits. There are specially designed sailing boats for people with disabilities that do no capsize and are very easy to sail. There is a hoist and staff are experienced at working with wheelchair users. There are accessible changing rooms and a lift to access the first-floor training room, café and viewing balcony.
Disabled adults can self-refer or be referred by social workers or disability organisations. To make a referral or enquiry: https://www.sailbirmingham.com/contact-us/
