Rednal Litter Busters

We offer local residents the chance to join us at local litter picking events that aim to clean up the community and instil a sense of community pride. We can offer them litter pickers, hoops, gloves and bags to join in, as well as safety equipment for when working on busy roads. We meet regularly to enable any isolated or lonely people a space to come and get some light exercise, meet new people with similar interests and also help the environment at the same time.

Rednal Litter Busters arrange weekly events but also support single litter picks. Litter picking is great for mental health for adults and children and gives people a sense of achievement and pride in their community. A more recent activity we have been doing is a Community Flower Garden, which gets residents planting flowers and seeds, weeding, watering, and maintaining the area. We have a few other options being explored for more community flower gardens

Group activities are on an ad hoc basis, we do a monthly litter pick around Rednal in various places, but always beginning at 10am on Edgewood Road. We have a few smaller groups of residents that live close together and go on litter picks that they arrange themselves and then post into the Facebook group. We also do a monthly tidy up of the Community Flower Garden, including weeding, deadheading flowers and removing any litter.
