The Sweet Project
The SWEET Project is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company supporting children, families, and adults through early, practical intervention. Their work focuses on improving emotional health, wellbeing, resilience, confidence, self-esteem, and coping skills, while reducing social isolation and helping people connect with appropriate local services. They also provide transition support for young adults and older people.
Family & Parenting Groups:
Pick and Mix Parenting Group – Thursdays, 9:30am–12:00pm. A relaxed, parent-led group where parents can meet, share concerns, and support each other.
Break and Stay Free – Thursdays, 1:00pm–2:30pm. A supportive group for people who have experienced or are living with domestic abuse, offering space to reflect on its impact. Suitable for men and women.
Generation X – Wednesdays, 10:00am–12:00pm. A support group for grandparents raising grandchildren, offering peer support and shared experiences.
DALE Legacy Programme – Support for individuals using abusive behaviour in relationships, focusing on the impact of abuse on children and partners and addressing issues of power and control.
The organisation also carries out direct work in schools to understand the impact of abuse on children, taking a whole-family approach.
Adult Services:
A range of support is available including benefits, debt and housing advice, eviction and repossession support, help with practical tasks, memory and life story work, and support around social isolation, mental health, learning disabilities, and ageing. Transition support is also offered for younger and older adults.
Werther’s Original – Tuesdays and Fridays, 10:00am–12:00pm. A friendly social group with tea, coffee, and biscuits.
Service Users’ Forum enables people to help shape services, including involvement in interviews, inductions, and training for student social workers.
