Mackadown Day Care was formed in 1999 when its Founder, Rita Keen, recognised the need for quality day care services for adults with learning disabilities within Birmingham.  We are a unique day care service, with the philosophy of focussing on the person first and disability second.  

As an organisation we are committed to working with staff, clients and their families and other key stakeholders to ensure that the original vision of the day centre continues and those in our care continue to receive high-quality day-care experience.

Our service specialises in adults with learning disabilities and complex health care needs such as Epilepsy and clients who require peg feeding.  We are easily able to accommodate clients who are wheelchair users.  Our highly trained staff team provide bespoke, client-focussed quality care to our clients taking into account their physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs.  

We pride ourselves in being a multi-cultural organisation and promote an environment where acceptance, respect and education is at its core.   Using their knowledge and skills, our staff team provide our clients with opportunities for development in a fun, relaxed and stimulating environment and this is reflected in our Mission Statement:

Wherever possible, our staff team deliver a client-led day care program, allowing our clients to make choices in their daily activities and participate and contribute to their timetable.  This supports their independence and enhances their holistic experience at the day centre.   
 

Our day centres are regularly inspected, and we strive to exceed the Care Quality Commission’s standards in everything we do.   We believe that working in partnership with our families and other professionals such as Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics and Physiotherapy, can produce great outcomes for those who attend our day centres.
