Getting Out and About

The information on this page is aimed to help you get out and about and make the most of Birmingham and beyond, if you have a disability or not.

Accessing venues and locations can be very dependent for some people on their accessibility needs. AccessAble and Euan’s Guide both provide listings of places that Accessible for people with specific access needs.

AccessAble is a website that seeks to “take the chance out of going out” by providing detailed information about a location and its facilities, so that you can decide if its accessible for your circumstances

Euan’s Guide is a disabled access charity, that provides a listing of locations and venues’ disabled facilities and access. It also provides some advice and hosts reviews of disabled people’s trips to different locations and venues.

The availability of toilets for people with a disability and those who need additional facilities, can literally be the difference between making a trip or not for some.

Changing places toilets

People with profound and multiple learning disabilities or with physical disabilities such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis often need extra equipment and space to allow them to use the toilets safely and comfortably. Changing Places provides a listing and search tool for finding these facilities.

RADAR National Key Scheme

The National Key Scheme, often known as RADAR, offers disabled people independent access to locked public toilets around the country. You can purchase a RADAR key here.

The Great British public Toilet Map

The Great British Public Toilet Map is the UK’s largest database of publicly-accessible toilets and helps people find a toilet facilities on their travels. It lists key information such as opening times and known facilities.

Guide Dogs provide help to thousands of blind and partially sighted people across the UK through the provision of guide dogs, mobility and other rehabilitation services. For more information, please visit the Guide Dogs website.
